Zachary Naylor National Cemetery

Zachary Taylor, the 12th president of the United States is buried in Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in Louisville, KY, off Brownsboro Road in St. Matthews. It's a somber place to visit, with the thousands of veterans buried there.

Below is a photograph of his original tomb.

This is his present burial site.

Louisville free Public Library

There are bronze sculptures on the outside, they look like at one time water came out the mouth, see the square opening.
The inside has been renovated. Here's a view of one of the stairs.

A view out one of the upstairs windows
The ceiling in the main entrance hall. The picture doesn't do it justice.
The library had it's first day of being open on Sunday since 2008.

Main Street Louisville, KY

I love walking Louisville's Main street. There are so many interesting buildings. These are some photographs I like: A clock in an Army Surplus store window, a detail of one of the many cast iron facades, an American flag, backwards and a gaudy building front.

Brown Park

Brown Park in St. Matthews is a small park located near Baptist East Hospital. It has asphalt paved trails that traverse the park, crossing streams and falling in and out of shadowy wooded areas. There are picnic tables and play grounds and plenty of room to play in the grassy areas. Stone monoliths are scattered throught the woods and wild flowers bloom in the spring and early summer. The park is undergoing a renovation to replace invading plants with native plants. A nice place to walk on a summer evening. The photographs are a detail of the iron gate at the Brown Family Cemetery along with ivy growing on a gate post, flowers in an area near the hospital and one of the stone monoliths.
